So here it is =) *last post I told you that I'll be posting it up*
the pictures of my cooking ^^ and those above are mates who were the beneficiaries of my cooking genes XD

Lasagna (click for recipe) but I did some amendments to it hehe to make it nicer ^^ this would have to depend on your taste buds haha

Cajun-style wedges (click for recipe) mm all the recipes I've obtained from the net requires some adjustments hehe cause I always like to Fionna-lized things XD

Fio's Salad: my own concoction ^^
Ingredients:
- Cabbage
- Broccoli
- Raisins
- Apples
- Ham
- Bread
- feel free to add anything of your own favorites ^^

1. Bread --> you would need to cut it up into cubes. I used the skin cause it was the left overs when PF was making the bread pudding (though I like my bread pudding with the bread skin in it too). After cutting it up into cubes, oven bake the bread. This would give it a good crispy taste.

2. Set it aside and let it cool.

3. Cut up the broccoli and cabbage, blanch it in boiling water. Not too long because you don't want it to be all soft, some crunch in it will be good. Drain the water, set it aside.

4. Cut up the ham into squares, stir fry. This will give it a good fragrance & brings out the flavor.

5. Apples --> I used red, this would make the dish looks nicer =) Cut it up into cubes. Don't cut it up too early though as when left for too long will turn brown.

6. Toss everything in together. Add the bread cubes last just before being served.

I didn't put any dressing for it because the wedges and lasagna already have a heavy seasoning, so we needed something fresh to blend in with the whole meal. =)

All based on your own estimation ^^ Not too user friendly for beginners I know, sorry about that. But I just roughly estimated it =D More is always better than less, you could always give some away when there's too much. hehe. Never throw! XD

Green noodles: made out of vege (that's what the label says). baked not fried.
I just blanch them in boiling water til it's soft. season it with a lot of pepper (I like pepper), oyster sauce, sesame oil. They are rather tasteless but has a nice texture, thus you gotta season it unless your side-dish is heavy on the seasoning.

twins?

When I was younger, I always wondered what it was like having a twin. Used to think that it was pretty neat than, having someone to be able to think like you at times, impersonating you when the need arise ^^ I still think that it's cool though BUT the only set back would be the comparison part...

Used to be a time where cloning was a big hype. But I think having another clone of me, would prove to be disastrous. haha. My lecturers & the people around me would definitely agree with that statement! Having one of Fionna Tan is more than than enough! I have no choice but to agree with it! Haha. I don't fancy having another me either. Doubt that I can stand myself that much.

...I've come to terms that there's a lot of people who looks like each other but there's never an exact same type of people in this world. I may look like someone, act like someone, and even the way I think may be like someone but never the same. Ain't that just relieving to know? That you are you and I am me. =)

Never really fancied being compared to another simply because I like being me =) So I don't have to be someone else or try to be someone else. I don't see a point in that. After all, I'm the only Fionna Tan in this world, so why try to be someone else? When I'm made to be me? XD

starting to get sleepy...just felt like using my iSight to snap a picture of myself..about 200pages of FMT 2 to read ^^ everyone seems to be saying that I'm so cool and calm about exams. I don't look like I'm having any stress at all. My housemates have concluded that it's just Fionna. haha. People don't believe me even if I say that I'm stressed.?. So am I? Well off and on..haha..can't really be bothered by it. Unnecessary strain on myself. But I do get stressed about my academics too cause it makes me sit in my room with no human interaction!
There was only once and will be only ONCE that I was so caught up in academics.
welp I know what I wanna do plus I'm in tertiary education, I know where my life is heading towards and it's definitely not in the line of me pursuing in the field of academics. I hire people for that =)

people in your life

It's interesting how some people can just waltz into your life and turn your life upside down (good or bad) and your life never became the same again...even after the person might have journeyed down another path..

The people might be your long lost aunt, a buddy, a teacher, a pastor, a friend or even an enemy. It's been said that people can change us but what's true to it, it's that we made that decision to allow them to change us. =) So bottom line, the choice is in our hands.

I've been blessed to have had and have many wonderful people journeyed into my life, some became my buddies, some became people whom I admire, some became my mentors, some became my a part of my life. Some of them have journeyed down paths that's different than mine but my life is what it is because of them.

We are connected in this big wide globe. Am sure some of you have heard before of the 6 degrees connection. Simply says, each and every living being is connected to each other through a network which extends up to 6 people. So, that means whoever you are reading this, I may not have met you before but you and I are connected through my friend's friend's friend's friend's friend. ^^ This is research based result and I didn't crap this up. All you need to do is just to take a look at friendster, click on someone you don't know and you will be surprised that, that person is connected to you somehow. Of course provided that your network is big enough since not every living being is registered on friendster =)

Today I received an email from my buddy =) which literally brightened up my day. Simply because it's just so amazing to know how your life personally can also change someone's life itself. To know that you are being missed, that your presence is felt while you were there. It really makes my day!

Maybe because I open up all to easily and can talk to you for hours without even knowing your name. Maybe because I'm not afraid to meet new people and allow people into my life. Maybe because I know that while doing that, I tend to get hurt easily by people since I'd opened up my life. And I think it's cool to love people even though when one of them hurt me before. It's just that one after all...or maybe 2,3,4..but the whole world is out there.

One thing I'm sure of, that it's simply because of God in my life and the assurance that I have in Jesus. That allows me to be who I am today. Thought I know I ain't perfect and far from it but I'm learning. I'm learning....so who am I? That's for you to find out =) maybe I'll get someone to author my life some day..but prior to that, in good timing, you'll know who I am.

Striving for excellence in life because I only have one life to live! Too much is been done on the cross for me to not live life to the fullest! And to live my all for Christ!

I have found something and I have found my way. Have you?

saturday..sunday..

this is like the first time in my entire life of 21years plus, in which I tried sleeping twice!

usually it hardly takes me 2mins to sleep but today or rather tonight or whatever, I can't sleep!! Dead tired and brain drained, however sleep was not an option tonight.

my mind managed to rummage through all the thoughts that have not been processed for weeks...

I think that my brain needs to do some sorting out of itself, to try to un-clutter it. something like defragmentation.

so back up again, with my FMT 1 (formulation, manufacture & testing) in front of me. trying to put something into my brain. they gotta think that we are robots or something...

i managed to find out a lack in the course but apparently nobody pays much attention to it...oh well i guess that sometimes things are just of such and you just have to cope with it

gonna look like crap this few weeks..with odd hours of sleep and the lacking of it

still putting the word 'fun' into perspective according to my definition ^^

now this would sound more like a blog eh? XD

doing simply too many things to blog everything on it...^^
having a blast here in Glasgow despite all the on-goings in regards with academics
oh yea got used to the weather..unless i'm in my comfy room (simply the best in JBC, click on the link to check it out..fionna-lized it more but no update pics YET) than I would deject a request of walking in the drizzle :)

ooook...so far the people that walks into my room are rather surprised that i'm playing eng I mean chinese songs..-__- i'm not thattt bad..haha

Museum of Transport, Glasgow

We went to quite a few places as part of our Glasgow city tour =)

First stop intended was the Museum of Transport, Glasgow It's a rather fascinating place, even for non-motor lovers. ^^ So why did I use the word intended?...hehe cause all of us were distracted by the shops and our first stop ended up in charity shops which sells pretty good stuff at a reasonable price =) or maybe even CHEAP for some items.

They have quite a good number of charity shops around here, which is good cause you can buy pretty cheap stuff from there. Some of them are brand new items while some are worn a couple of times. People donate their stuff here and the shop sorts it out and sell it.

By the way, just for your info I don't necessarily blog immediately after my trips cause time is just not at my free dispense at the moment =)

So during this day out, we also went to the Kelvingroove museum, which is really good XD Fionna Tan and museums doesn't seem to go along that well...haha but hey! My day out with the dean also ended up in the museums (his quest of trying to educate me seems well enough haha)

Now when you walk down the streets, nearly every average tourist will carry about them a digital camera. either in their pockets or around their neck. for those amateurs cum going pro you'll see a bigger camera around them.

there's just something fascinating about pictures..it can really boost up on a particular subject and it can also play down your emotions.
you can always use it to achieve your aim, be it good or bad.

as for me the brilliant Fionna Tan (ahem ahem, did I just hear someone coughing out there? I'm soon going to be a pharmacist after all. I can spare you some of my time to dispense your medication ^^)

ahh yes as for me, the only one in my entire batch of 114 students...whom forgot to bring that 2 items. XD

It only dawned upon me when I arrived here in Strathclyde University while the time table was given out. First day of class and we were suppose to have labs. I was like GRRREAT where on earth am I suppose to get a labcoat???
Anxious? ..pretty much but than..I only bothered myself to search for it on Sunday night..haha...thank God for seniors!!

So off I went to look for them, one bunch of'em was having BBQ outside my flat...so I went and bug them and Kelvin could spare me his set of labcoat and goggle ^^ Although it was pretty much not white but who cares...as long as I can enter the lab..I'm cool with it..haha but on Monday I went in with BBQ smoke all over the labcoat, as I was chilling with them ^^

So I've repeated this story a LOT of times cause it always starts with Fionna what did you do to your labcoat?? Why so dirty wan???? And my story goes all over again XD

A first for everything

Is it ever possible to get negative marks in an exam? Of course!

haha..welp today is my first in my academic life in which I got either a -10 or 0 for my Pharmacy Practice 3 Class Test.

You start off with a 100marks and than they'll just keep deducting it until they are satisfied XD

My mistakes are not major ones though...and some of the marks deducted it practically illogical but than again who am I to say? I'm not the marker after all...

Oh well...I can't beat my mentor's marks that's for sure but I sure hope that I can get an exemption for this paper! ^^

wheee not too much bothered about it...since it does not affect my degree after all...it's just a practice LIKE they SAY.

However it's pretty inconsistent the whole system of teaching by itself. During our practices they should always use the exam standards and not just ok everything during our exercise and than say it's not possible for our exams.

tsk tsk tsk...they can work on a lot of things for us to get a better grade. =)

First time ever in my academic life in which I started sleeping in lectures =) there's always a first for everything ^^ after all if I don't do it now, I won't have anymore chance to do XD

Slept at 3am yesterday...could hardly wake up this morning...was not playing this time =p haha...lemme tell you my story first

finish class early...came back home...went online to look up for jobs cause I want something easy at the same time & office jobs..so I'm rather that's why it's taking up so much of my time browsing through...pray that I can get a good job with a good pay! XD than went out to Uncut

than came back from Uncut, my batchmates and some seniors and some New Mercies church ppl were having BBQ ^^ so off I went to join them..haha free food wert after all plus the people are niceee =)

finish BBQ-ing, played frisbee cause I needed the exercise, ate soo much haha..until all of a sudden someone called my name out of no where!

haha to my utter amusement, it was Eunice (my lab-partner) and we were scheduled to have a discussion at 8:30pm, when she was hailing me out from her flat window, it was already 9:30pm haha..i sincerely totally forgot about it XD

so off I went, said thanks and bye, grabbed my bag, run back home, grab my book and off I went for the lab discussion ^^ I was smelling of SMOKE! what to do..no time to bath

Before I left I told them that I had to go for lab discussion now in which I totally forgot..hehe..their reply was, "aiyo00 you are, play soo much until you forgot about studying" haha..I just laugh and went off...oh well totally so ME hehe

so yea...we started about 10pm plus...ended only at about 2am...but thank GOD we finished one lab...so it's good...oh yea..mid-way we (anson, my lab-partner too) decided to give Julian (IMU buddy) a wake up call XD

ahh all in the name of fun...was talking to my daddy earlier on...and he ask me to sleep...I said oook...but than now I think I need to cover a few more pages of FMT 1 ..I hope I can finish it in time!!

Peanut Butter N Oats

welp I guess you'll be seeing a lot of spontaneous recipes around here XD since now I gotta cook for me-self...no more mummy to get me food =p

Yesterday I was hungry and lazy at the same time ...than Alicia suggested that I eat some oats...and I'm not really a fan of oats, so I decided to improvise and come up with something nice!

First of, mixed the oats with milk..but not too much since I don't like it watery.

Than I add in honey to sweeten it..pop it into the microwave to heat it up...and than I added some peanut butter ^^

yummmy!!! give it a good mix and it's ready to it!! Too bad I was quite full by the time I thought of putting in ice-cream. Mmmmmm so next time I would definitely add in ice-cream XD I think it'll taste superb!!

as the years passes we all grow & change. what used to be our favorite food might not be any more. and people who used to be so close may not be any more & vice versa. it's interesting how our lives changes over the years. how one can grow so much and change so much over the course of time. time ticks and never returns. we all must strive to change for the better for we only have one life to live after all. just this once to make an impact in this world. just this once to live a life here on a earth.

i have changed much over the course of time. thank God that it's for the better =) it's never too late to start changing. habits can be broken. lives can transform. it's all in your power of choice to do so. and i never said it was easy. but with God all things are possible ^^

man...i'm getting sleepy...I think I need a shower to wake me up a bit so that at least I can flick through a few pages of NMR XD

All ready to eat!

Scottish Pipe Band!

I got a real treat PTL =) while I was taking the ferry back from Island of Cumbrae (or known as Millport) the Scottish Pipe Band just randomly took out their instruments to play ^^

which was really cool!! So I recorded a bit of it...very likely they were already high on booze XD
I got front row view of it!! haha I am truly blessed!!




It's cool seeing them play and all, and the kilts also known as highland dress are rather interesting ^^

thank God for grandmas and mothers because I ate my 'zhong' before I came over..muwhahahaha...my grandma and mum decided to make some for me to makan (eat) first..so I had my fair share of nonya zhong (bluish color), gan sui zhong (yellow color) and ham yuk zhong (the meaty one! with egg yolk!! simply fabulous!!)

my grandma and mum and grandad are seriously good cooks..and some of the genes are passed on to me..haha...i bake though..but i should definitely learn their traits of the traditional food from my mum's side ^^

well when you do visit Malaysia, you need to try some of it!!! Some places do sell them even when the festival is not on =)

It's basically a glutinous rice, wrapped with bamboo leaves and shaped into a triangular shape hence called a dumpling.

They have difference fillings inside and usually the savory type is more preferred but the sweet ones are also good too XD

enough la...i'm getting hungry now..haha

what is it?? found this pretty cool software which easily enables me to upload pictures from my mac to my flickr account. It also indicates how much bandwith the pics will take up and how much I've used up.

i can even resize it which is useful when i'm too lazy to do edit ^^
