This has got to be one of the best ideas ever that dawned XD
So for those of you who have been following my posts...you would have known that officially my dinner entourage has started and my oh my...it's superb-erly brilliant!!! haha
Food is one thing and laughters are another!!!
This dinners would serve as a good memory point next time when we get back together again (esp after we graduate and start to work...with kids and all for some ;)
Food and laughters must definitely go together I'd say!!
I will definitely have some very interesting post to post up later on...haha...I still can't get my head around laughing.. :D
what a beautiful life!~ when we start to just simply live it and leave the rest to God: I for one am indeed learning =)
Some of the dinners are without pictures (unfortunately) as we were to busy gobbling up everything and than laughing later on XD
Ever tried coffee chicken? produced by Pei Ling's (hope I get her name right XD
Simply finger licking good!~
Recipe?
According to her:
coffee and sugar --> cook it till its sticky --> than use it to marinate the chicken for about a day (to really get the flavor in I suppose) --> than just cook it. SIMPLE
you can add in other stuff according to your taste buds ^^
ahh I'm having soo much good food! It can simply just beat Malaysia anytime =p haha oh well..I'm gonna be here for God knows how long (literally) so I gotta perk myself up ^^
having dinner with different people is like one of the best things on earth =)
btw juniors if you ever get bored...just randomly get a date with another house and have dinner ;D just make sure you have someone who can talk and create conversations along :) = like ME haha

1st make
Didn't manage to try a single piece of the 2nd make as I made it for others ^^ thank God it tasted alright...at least that is what they told me XD
I tasted the first one, it was pretty good. Light and fluffy but lots of hardwork for this. Especially since you don't have an electric mixer!!

Saturday, August 11, 2007

muwahaha...lovely!!! i just had this for my dinner also...but the chicken was marinated differently ^^ by Alicia & PF: taste really good!!
so how is this made? Simple
1. Oven the marinated chicken (which ever you like)
2. Boil the water, throw in the noodles
3. Crack an egg into the bowl
4. Pour a bit of the boiling water into the bowl with the egg
5. Take the noodles out and into the bowl + egg
6. Mix everything together. Add a bit of the boiling water, so it's not too dry.
7. Add in sesame oil & oyster sauce into the bowl. 1 tbp of each. Mix it.
8. DONE!
I love good food and it's just in my genes to come up with food of such haha XD

crumpets
Crumpets are one of the yummy stuff here in Glasgow!! =D
I just discovered it last week randomly..as I was in Sainsbury (grocery shop) and I saw this packet on the shelf..it was pretty cheap only 21p ^^so I just grabbed it and toss it into my basket
It's like a pancake but thicker and have lots of holes in it..like a honeycomb ^^
It's spongy like in texture, smells lovely
Click here for more info on wiki =)
so what can you do with a crumpet? welp below is a simple recipe of mine ^^ you can also drizzle honey on it and than top it with a good thick amount of peanut butter!!!! or you can just spread some chocolate over it =D YUMMY!!

Chef Day!
Thursday, August 9, 2007
today was definitely a wacky day!
slpt at 1am woke up at 5.18am
made some breakfast cause if I don't eat I would definitely fall back to sleep again
studied till 6.30am and went back to sleep ^^
woke up again at 8.49am as I was dreaming about a dentist calling out my name...lo and behold it was phuay fhern who was calling me...asking for some directions to the exam hall or something XD
showered went for the exam
i already told myself that i would not ever cry for academic reasons again...so after my paper, me and pao suk went to Teso Extra. Although it was a long walk as told...but it was quite alright..I needed the walk after all
both of us laughed our heads off for goodness knows what haha...but it was good =D
we bought a whole lot of stuff!! and I think I got enough stuff to last me through till Dec?? haha..good good...now I won't starve if I'm too lazy to do anything...can you believe that I actually still have food from the first month?..it's my second month now by the way ^^
plain lazy to do anything at times...hehe
fast forward: so today I'm the chef!
will post up pictures later ^^
Menu of the Day:-
Caviar on Toast
Tom Yum Bee Hoon
Potato Salad
Pearly Green Beans with Ice Cream
First off, the dessert it just came up impromtu..haha..and it taste pretty good actually! It's just basically green beans + sago 'tong sui' (sweet water, its a dessert soup) and I made it thicker so it's not too watery. Left it to cool and than before serving, got scoops of vanilla ice-cream and than poured the 'tong sui' over it. Which was pretty interesting concoction.
You taste the warmth of the 'tong sui' and than a tinge of coldness starts as the ice-cream dissolves in your mouth XD lovely!
Potato Salad was good!! Thanks to Kah Yee and Wen Jiun which helped to prepared it =)
Rather a simple dish ^^
Potatoes, eggs, mayo & seasoning with herbs & spices to taste =)
Caviar on toast: yummy! Added the extra touch to my whole menu ^^
I just simply buttered the bread, cut into squares, oven it.
Layer a slice of cheese and lemon and than top it off with caviar (John West: the only one available)
Tom Yum Bee Hoon: Mum's recipe of course. Anything that is continental would usually be hers...it was just quite alright...as I think it didn't have enough of the oomph there...not because of her recipe haha but I didn't have a big enough pan and was too lazy to add in the extra taste. Not spicy enough too...darn...should have added in more tom yum cubes -_-
Quite pleased with today's result although it can be much better...welp a BIG thanks to my housemates and my neighbors who have helped out in every way ^^
PiCTURES!! up soon...hehe....try not to salivate on your keyboard. ^^

Chef of the Day =)
Saturday, July 28, 2007

So here it is =) *last post I told you that I'll be posting it up*
the pictures of my cooking ^^ and those above are mates who were the beneficiaries of my cooking genes XD
Lasagna (click for recipe) but I did some amendments to it hehe to make it nicer ^^ this would have to depend on your taste buds haha
Cajun-style wedges (click for recipe) mm all the recipes I've obtained from the net requires some adjustments hehe cause I always like to Fionna-lized things XD
Fio's Salad: my own concoction ^^
Ingredients:
- Cabbage
- Broccoli
- Raisins
- Apples
- Ham
- Bread
- feel free to add anything of your own favorites ^^
1. Bread --> you would need to cut it up into cubes. I used the skin cause it was the left overs when PF was making the bread pudding (though I like my bread pudding with the bread skin in it too). After cutting it up into cubes, oven bake the bread. This would give it a good crispy taste.
2. Set it aside and let it cool.
3. Cut up the broccoli and cabbage, blanch it in boiling water. Not too long because you don't want it to be all soft, some crunch in it will be good. Drain the water, set it aside.
4. Cut up the ham into squares, stir fry. This will give it a good fragrance & brings out the flavor.
5. Apples --> I used red, this would make the dish looks nicer =) Cut it up into cubes. Don't cut it up too early though as when left for too long will turn brown.
6. Toss everything in together. Add the bread cubes last just before being served.
I didn't put any dressing for it because the wedges and lasagna already have a heavy seasoning, so we needed something fresh to blend in with the whole meal. =)
All based on your own estimation ^^ Not too user friendly for beginners I know, sorry about that. But I just roughly estimated it =D More is always better than less, you could always give some away when there's too much. hehe. Never throw! XD
everyone had a scrumptious dinner!! Ate till they were stuffed to the brim =)
where did my cooking genes come from??
Grandad (Father's side): Chef in the NAFI (british army while they were colonizing Malaysia)
Grandma (Mother's side): Chef in all her own ways ^^ specialized in Malaysian Chinese traditional food
Mummy: Simply a great cook
Daddy: Simply a great food lover
So I've got the best of western and eastern food, all my life!
*no time to do anything fancy with my pictures, though i don't really like the design of the layout haha..but no choice la*

Green noodles: made out of vege (that's what the label says). baked not fried.
I just blanch them in boiling water til it's soft. season it with a lot of pepper (I like pepper), oyster sauce, sesame oil. They are rather tasteless but has a nice texture, thus you gotta season it unless your side-dish is heavy on the seasoning.

Peanut Butter N Oats
Wednesday, July 11, 2007
welp I guess you'll be seeing a lot of spontaneous recipes around here XD since now I gotta cook for me-self...no more mummy to get me food =p
and if you've got any good ones do feel free to share it here =)
Yesterday I was hungry and lazy at the same time ...than Alicia suggested that I eat some oats...and I'm not really a fan of oats, so I decided to improvise and come up with something nice!
First of, mixed the oats with milk..but not too much since I don't like it watery.
Than I add in honey to sweeten it..pop it into the microwave to heat it up...and than I added some peanut butter ^^
yummmy!!! give it a good mix and it's ready to it!! Too bad I was quite full by the time I thought of putting in ice-cream. Mmmmmm so next time I would definitely add in ice-cream XD I think it'll taste superb!!
I should definitely get a pic next time =)
