Generousity

It's a funny thing when you start to think about the people around you...
When you stop thinking about yourself for awhile

You start to look around and beyond your troubles
You stop worrying so much and start thinking about the wondeful blessings that you have in your life...

It's a funny thing when somebody treats you nice and you know you haven't been very nice yourself
When somebody starts being generous to you and you know you have been kinda stingy lately...

It's true they say that a little good goes a long way...

Coming to a foreign land where the exchange rate sits right at the back of your mind, eating your subconscious thoughts...
When I first came here, all I could think about was the rates, the money, the expenses...
So much so that I forgot what it meant to be generous,
what it meant to give...
I forgot what God has given me and showed me all these while
That it is more blessed to give than to receive

I closed up my world thinking of only myself
Not willing to share nor spread some joy around for I was too caught up with ME

But than someone showed me what it was like to be kind again
She showed me how it felt when you give and treat someone nice
She showed me that it is alright to share and not to always think about yourself
She showed me how little things can brighten up someone's day
Just a simple act of kindness
Just a simple word of love
It's really the small things that makes a difference in someone's life

Little did I know that God used her to show me how wrong I was to think of such

I have finally arrived!!!

welp! I have finally arrived in Glasgow XD

the full-ness of me has touched down at last!!!!! hahaha

last Saturday was the day when I have finally reached after nearly 2 weeks of being in Scotland =) the whole part of me arrived along ^ ^

as some of you might have read earlier that I was missing home a lot and stuff..to the point of me crying everyday =p *yea yea i know unbelievable and unimaginable* hey even I myself didn't expected that..so I won't blame you for it..haha

but yea...i'm loving the life here...my housemates totally rocks big time..they always cook for me to eat..haha...unfortunately no one is ironing my cloths..sigh ...haha...i hate ironing...worst chore ever!!!

i know i'm gonna love the life here even before i left....and sometimes ppl do misinterpret & associate missing home with the life here must be bad -_- and that's soo not true for me! comon it's fionna tan after all...not matter where it is, fun can never be far awayyy...hehehe

but hey...it's either you get it or you don't...you know it's like..being a part of something for all your life..and when you part physically you kinda grief...although in reference to time it is not going to be forever..and i know that =)

but it's cool...i've got great pals here! making new friends every week...having fun...ahhh life is great!!! hehehe

welp...not to say that I don't miss the ppl anymore..I still do a whole lot =) hehe...can't wait to see them again

welp...last week when i saw my dean -->

Prof Peter Pook

haha no picture of him yet..so i just googled it up

I realized that I actually miss him so much...haha well partly also because he's from home and anyone from home that I've known is just so 'homey' to see them again! And I wasn't the only one who felt that way!!! A lot of my other batch mates did too XD We all just felt so at home again...one of them told me that back in IMU when they see him, it's like he' s the dean but here now when they see him it's like he's family =)

so I've decided to go chill out with him on the saturday...missing home too much and too happy to see him haha...and i was suppose to go to loch lomond with my other mates but I picked a cooler choice instead = chilling out with the dean haha

it was cool and totally neat!! kinda a bit like chilling out with my dad or something...hehe...

well we went to the museumS...2 in fact! first one was Charles Rennie Mackintosh (a famous architect and his favorite one) in the museum near Glasgow University (which in fact is a very nice place itself, went there a week before...superb building!! posting up pics later XD, still no mac yet -_-) than they had all those different types of paintings there...and than the House of Mackintosh, where they literally re-built his house..which was pretty neat. What prof told me was that (and it's true la hehe) he was one of the rare designers as his designs were masculine instead of feminine..he likes to use straight lines and stuff like tht...click on the link to check him out...really nice place...unfortunately no pics allowed =)

so after this museum...went to grab a cup of chocolate or was it that we went to another museum first?...haha can't remember la...oh wait...we went to another museum first...it was called the Hunterian Museum named after the anatomist (something like tht la..haha) William Hunter. One thing that I'd realize and what prof told me also was that, last time all these people are really superb la...cause they are anatomist, painters, biologist and all those things..not to mention inventors! all in one...nowadays we only major in one area...haha...who knows probably they don't have a life?..hehe...pulak kena cha *reverting to malaysian slang* say that i'm a spoil brat -_-

ahh this museum I did manage to snap some pictures of it...but lazy to upload pulak...haha...soon I'm gonna post it to flickr and you all can go there and check out the pictures ^^

so after this museum....prof tired ady...old d wert...haha...so we went to grab a cup of hot chocolate and some snack...than we went back to city center ..to buy some stuff and had lunch in john lewis

mmmm...nice lunch haha...chicken ceasar...come to think of it ..i should have snap some pics with him la...my day out..but unfortunately it's just all stored in my memory =) probably next time I'll hire an artist to draw out something that will be etched in my brain forever =)

oh...than quite farneee the fella ..haha...welp...gotta talk to me to get all the farnee stories la...or ask me...haha..can't possibly post up everything here XD although i'm referring a lot of ppl to this blog...you still gotta come and talk to me wert..if not nobody talk to me d ..thn i teruk la...haha...although that's hard to imagine...akaka....
mmm...8pm ady...and it's a beautiful weather outside...with the sun up...it's nice...life is just simply great!!

oook yea...so after all that...we went to grab some desserts from marks & spencers for the night's dinner...cause we (his mentees and ME) cooked for him to eat ^^
we had curry chicken, bak kut teh, salad (made by me...haha...which had = strawberries, iceberg lettuce, some beef, apples, drizzled with honey, some pepper and rosemary herbs; but unfortunately not enuf pepper and honey..hehe), quish, veggies, and dessert!

good dinner =) hehe

extra throw in..since you've been spending your time reading this..haha..
i ate thornton's ice cream which was really really nice!! both of us..sitting down on the stairways outside, where a lot of ppl were chilling there too...and we just chill with the ice-creams ^^ now how cool is tht??!?
simply like family...akaka...one of my mates commented that it was like a father and daughter scenario ^^

it's not all as bad as it seems
for now we have walked in the rain...

P105: suggestions anyone? Angels & Saints

heya peeps!

well i'm just all too sleepy nowadays...ain't know why...so I've decided to post up stuff regarding our batch here itself =) probably yet to really settle down laaa hehe

since i'm maintaing it..you all can post too if you want..just make sure your title there have P105 at the front ^^

welp first off, I've circulated some emails around but some of you may not have got it yet ^^

I'm planning to orgainse a programme called Angels & Saints
This is just to perk things up a bit and create something to look forward and hype things up in campus...since all of us are hit by the sleep spell of late XD
Not to mention that some of us are desperately missing home..be it the food or our loved ones...I know I AM!!! MISSSIN home a whole lot XD
So I'd figure that we all need a lil something to smile about =)

what is it? - meh le gei -
we need even number of participation from the batch so that everyone of you will be paired up.
you will pick a slip of paper which will have a name written on it. That would be your saint.
So that means everyone will have an angel looking after them and a saint to look after =)
So it's something like being a guardian angel to your designated saint, that you have picked out.

what do we do? - chou meh ye ge leh -
since now you are the guardian angel of your saint, you gotta treat your saint nice. Be it get her/him sweets, cook them meals, do laundry for them, write notes of encouragement, or whatever that your creative minds can come up with. BUT you MUST NOT let your saint know who you are.

for how long? - oi gei loi -
we can't be guardian angels forever! XD so it will run for probably 2 weeks? and at the end of it we will than reveal who your guardian angel is.

I will also setup another post just for the Angels & Saints (if there's ppl interested to participate la) so the angels and saints can drop their messages to the respective ppl without them knowing who you are =) you can do this via the comments button, but put la the name like Fionna's Angel or something.

It will definitely be fun =)

Authoxy!!! -proxy made simple for mac-

I've decided to give Authoxy a free advert!





first off, I've looked hours on the net figuring out how to configure my mac to work for messenger and skype as I'm working behind my Uni's proxy and those dumb softwares didn't seem to be able to work and just follow the settings on my mac -_-

lo and behold, I found this wonderful and brilliant software which is relatively easy to use and configure. And ta-da! my messenger and skype work without a hitch! Only thing is tht my messenger keeps on signing off without any known reason -_-

but still it deserves a thumbs up!...we need more ppl to come up with more software for mac users!! all hail mac! haha

summer in glasgow

it's the month of June

it's SUMMER

but over here in Glasgow...summer is a daily thing...once in awhile the sun comes up and the temp is about 21 degrees BUT MOST OF THE TIME it's 10 degrees?!!?!

so yea..its a fake summer most of the time, as you need to pull on your jackets and scarfs

some of my batchmates even started wearing gloves already!!! they look like it's winter!!

now i need to check the weather forecast daily cause you never know when it is going to rain..i shall put up a weather widget on my blog, so that you all can also see what climate I am in ^ ^
the widget doenst look tht nice la nor is it tht accurate i think...but more or less you get the idea =)

welp looks like for next week only my friday is a sunny summer =D..darn

Life without MY mac-ky

i wonder how my life will be like...now that my mac is gone...

will i ever survive the surreal life without it...

will i make it through....

XD anyway...my mac's in the workshop...gotta get some parts replaced...all thanks to the Malaysian efficiency that now i have to live without it for like 2 weeks!!!!!!!!

so yea..will try my level best to get connected...with alicia's (hsemate) laptop..coz she studies more than she use the laptop...haha...so I of course am the direct opp. of tht ^^ which is to my advantage...but anyway..this laptop (using her's now) lags really bad...it's a toshiba satellite M100, running on a Vista = lag tremendously!

Vista takes up way tooo much ram & graphics space. -_- Unless your lappie is equipped enough..don't bother using it. XP works best if your specs aren't too good.

to publish or not to publish?

hmmm...reading back some of the stuff I wrote..I wonder whether should I publish them or not?...haha...I really need to have some kind of password access for certain stuff XD...I should get someone to compile my life story one day ^^

First Day of Class in UoS

Typed: Mon, 11th June 07

welp...to begin with ...today’s lab day = lab coat needed...and unfortunately I left mine back in KL...brilliant!

and yes julian you’re right...I did leave something behind =P

but anyway thank God.... yesterday I was in a frantic search for one...well frantic would be over exaggerated... hehe... well I went over to the seniors, as they were having BBQ outside my place and managed to get one with a goggle too!! Thanks Kelvin!! =)

First day of class was pretty alright. Kinda sleepy as the lectures are pretty much sleep inducing!

My time table -->
Mon, Wed, Fri = pure labs from 9 to 5 only 1 hour break
Tue & Thu = pure lectures from 9 to 5 only 2 hours break

yup so that’s my study life in UoS =)
unfortunately library during the summer closes at 5 and opens at 9. So won’t be using the library at all -_- what a bummer!

Got no socializing place for free now

I should have brought my digicam out to class cause our FMT (don’t know what it means yet haha) lecturer was COOL. He was wearing jeans, a denim jacket with long wavy hair. Looks like a rider to me. ^^ His initial briefing was boring can’t help but fall asleep than later on he started joking..so I was more awake than XD

During my FMT lab just now...I had to stripe my cloths off with only my undies and put on a suit, which makes me look like I’m dealing with some hazardous chemical equipment..boring lab...all I did was just place the glass ampoules onto the machine and watch it being filled with sodium chloride and my partner, Anson took it off the machine and place it into the basket and click on the counter button at the same time.
What the machine did was just simply, fill up the ampoules and than let it run through two flames and than it sorta like nicely pulls the extra glass off under the heat while the ampoules are being spun round. The spinning is done so that it has a nice round shape and it has a better safety measure.

oh yea...my skype’s working and so is my messenger..whooo hooo!!!
thanks to authoxy! Brilliant software for mac users. Read up It enables you to bypass those proxy stuff in Uni, workplace and all. Authoxy ROCKS!!!

So for this topic...that should be it!

I will wanna write something else, as soon as I can get my pictures off my digicam cause I think I drop my card reader -_- in the airport as they required us to take our laptop off the bag completely! Troublesome!!!

It’s 9:46 pm now and yet the sun is still shinning brightly...

Today’s my 2nd day here in UoS (Uni of Strathclyde), Glasgow, Scotland.

I had a good flight from M’sia. Started from KL to S’pore, S’pore to London, London to Glasgow. The flight from KL to S’pore was delayed which led me to a series of smses, thus overflowing of tears...

As I flew from S’pore to London...watched the movie Pursuit of Happyness, ate my supper and slept. I woke up...I saw the sun set or rise (can’t tell the difference)...God knows where I was flying over than...but than suddenly it dawned on me..than from this point forth, I won’t be able to see my parents, my brothers, my buddies again...at least for a year...and than tears just started to stream down my face...unstoppable... it’s not that I don’t want to but it just kept flowing down....till I fall asleep once more...

I am suppose to be happy and excited and by all means I AM...but just not now that it is showing full blast....I’ve still not reach the full fionna-ness that people usually get out of me...for up till today I am still crying....

I have no idea why I am crying soo much....yea yea...I know I’m going to see them again...and one year ain’t that long...look...I know..it’s just that I cry because....I miss them a whole lot! Probably what daddy said its right...that we are much closer than we think...

I sms-ed my lil bro...he too missed me a whole lot and I miss him terribly...he told me that dad bought him a new hp, which was what he wanted for quite some time...he told me that mum said he’s gonna be very happy but but but...he replied mum that he couldn’t feel happy at all because I’m not around..

So far do I like it here?...yea of course!...the weather is nice..even though it’s summer...it’s not too hot...and even when it is sunny the wind can be chilly too!...the people so far is nice..friendly and helpful

Do I like my room?...yea it’s nice...all wood based..but I wished I got a bigger room...but it’s ok...the rooms ain’t that big after all....rather small....

My internet connection has yet to be fixed...so its a real bummer...I am so out of touch from the world but more so my buddies...

No one would have ever expected me to cry so much..even I didn’t expect myself to do so... tears just keep coming whenever I think about it...sometimes I try my best not to think about it...but it just comes...

So when will I be back to the full me?...I have no idea...

I’m gonna sleep now...it’s been a tiring day...a good day..but tiring

ooook...let's forget about revamping my blog first or fully utilizing my mac to blog :p
coz it's gonna take a looong time thn...since I hardly have the time lately to do soo many things all at once XD

I just found some cool stuff to dl for my mac haha...so am also fooling around with mac ..thus I've decided to put everything here first...coz I keep repeating stories...and they are no fun XD after like 3 or 5 times later ^^
