today is the first day of sem 7!!!

just two more semesters and I'm done with Uni!!! XD

just like every first day of the semester...they always try to scare you to work harder and all...usually works for the first hour or so..later on it just zonks through your brain.

welp I got my Research Project for my final year ..what is it about?
No idea...haven't read it through yet..but below is the general description given to me..you can read it..and if you have any good clues about what is going on...you can proceed on to tell me all about it :) Would love to hear your ideas about! =p

Dr Sandy Gray

Project Title: Drug Discovery from Natural Sources

Project Description
Many of today’s prescription medicines are based on plant-derived ‘lead’ natural products. However, only a small proportion of plants/herbal/traditional medicines have so far been investigated thoroughly for their chemical constituents and tested for their biological activity. Many potentially useful natural products remain to be discovered. The purpose of this project is to attempt to isolate some extracts/fractions/pure compounds of selected plants. This will be carried out using a range of chromatographic separation methods and identification techniques. If you have a burning desire to investigate a particular herbal remedy please let me know. The work may be linked to some of your other colleagues doing bioassays.

The Law of Garbage Trucks

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

courtesy of my dad :)

How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood? Do
you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive
employee ruin your day?

Unless you're the Terminator, for an instant you're probably set
back on your heels. However, the mark of a successful person is how
quickly she can get back her focus on what's important.

I learned it in the back of a Harare City taxi cab. Here's what
happened. I hopped in a taxi and we took off for Westgate.

We were driving when all of a sudden a black car jumped out of a
parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his
breaks, skidded, and missed the other car's back end by just inches!

Here's what happened next. The driver of the other car, the guy who
almost caused a big accident, whipped his head around and he started
yelling bad words at us. How do I know? Ask any Zimbabwean, some words
in Harare come with a special face.

Now, here's what blew me away. My taxi driver just smiled and waved
at the guy. And I mean, he was friendly. So, I said, 'Why did you just
do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'

And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call, 'The Law
of the Garbage Truck.'

Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage,
full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As
their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it.

And if you let them, they'll dump it on you. When someone wants to
dump on you, don't take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish
them well, and move on. You'll be happy you did. I guarantee it.

So this was it: The 'Law of the Garbage Truck.' I started thinking,
how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often do
I take their garbage and spread it to other people: at work, at home,
on the streets? It was that day I said, 'I'm not going to do it
anymore.'

I began to see garbage trucks. Like in the movie 'The Sixth Sense,'
the little boy said, 'I see Dead People.' Well now 'I see Garbage
Trucks.' I see the load they're carrying. I see them coming to drop
it off. And like my Taxi Driver, I don't make it a personal thing; I
just smile, wave, wish them well, and I move on. Life is too short to dwell
on other people's garbage....

One of my favourite Football players of all times, Ronaldino, does
this every day on the football field. With a smile he always jumps up
as quickly as he hits the ground after being tackled. He never dwells
on a hit. Ronaldino is always ready to make the next play his best.

Good leaders know they have to be ready for their next meeting. Good
parents know that they have to welcome their children home from
school with hugs and kisses.

Leaders and parents know that they have to be fully present, and at
their best for the people they care about. The bottom line is that
successful people do not let Garbage Trucks take over their day.

What about you? What would happen in your life, starting today, if
you let more garbage trucks pass you by? You'll be happier. I
guarantee it.

trust

Tuesday, September 25, 2007

trust: firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something

that's the definition of trust according to the dictionary on my macbook :)

Maybe for this season that was what that is needed to learned all over again....
A week has passed, a season might just be coming to an end...what goes through a lifetime for some, happens a week. What goes through a period of months for some, happens in days.

We live in a world, where this word is such a rare commodity. More often than not, you were told by your parents to be careful. To watch out for this person or to watch out for that; there's no such thing as a free thing in this world; everything has a price on it. Don't just simply trust the people around you...

How many times in life have you been told to trust someone, to trust in some things...not just casual or mere talk.

I guess for the most of us, it would be a rare incident maybe not even once...

Years have gone by..maybe the ones who told you to trust in them have let you down, one way or another...they may have left a scar on you...memories that you just want to erase forever...

But trust is one thing that all of us must learn...wise decisions will minimize the risk. Nonetheless there is always a risk...we are all humans and most of you would definitely know that humans are not perfect. No matter how wise, how good, how smart, how kind...humans we are all the same...we all have flaws

I'd say that there is Someone whom you can put your trust in..and you will not have any heartaches. Someone that will never fail you, Someone that will never leave you. Someone who has been there all along, from the beginning of time till the end of it all. He has and He will always and forever be there.

Things changes in life but not Him. This song speaks a lot.

Maybe that is the key....that is the next point

mapping out...it just might be....

pushing the boundaries of creativity

Monday, September 24, 2007

Another good opportunity for me to push the boundaries of my creativity while earning $$ for it ^^ check out Smorty smorty

What else can I say about ecommerce software that hasn't already been said? With so much rantings about it..you start to wonder how true it actually is?? Sometimes you just gotta go with your guts and take a risk. After all ain't that what business is actually all about??

For those of you who are power sellers and successful online sellers, you definitely should give a try on one of those shopping cart software. As in my previous post, you can read up on how good a strategy shopping complex use by providing customers a shopping cart. Simple yet effective!

Now for a company to be able to spend some money on advertising like this one

they definitely have got a good chances of having some good stuff in it ^^

After all, you can always go for a test drive first before you decide on purchasing it. Plus I think its worthwhile giving it a go to have a chance of increasing your sales!!

Mm the site has got a really clean, trendy looking design =) non-intimidating in anyway. And it's quite reader friendly, so click on it and have a look =D

just a lil comic~

When God Ran

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Navigation: P \ Phillips, Craig And Dean \ When God Ran

Almighty God, the great I am
Immovable rock, omnipotent, powerful, awesome Lord
Victorious warrior, commanding King of Kings
Mighty conqueror, and the only time
the only time I ever saw Him run

CHORUS:
Was when He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said,
“Son do you know I still love you?”
He caught me by surprise when God ran

The day I left home I knew I’d broken His heart
And I wondered then if things could ever be the same
Then one night I remembered His love for me
And down that dusty road ahead I could see
It was the only time – it was the only time I ever saw Him run

And then He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said,
“Son do you know I still love you?”
He caught me by surprise as He brought me to my knees
When God ran – I saw Him run to me

BRIDGE:
I was so ashamed, all alone and so far away
But now I know He’s been waiting for this day

I saw Him run to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice I felt His love for me again

He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said, “Son”, He called me Son
He said, “Son do you know I still love you?”
He ran to me and then I ran to Him
When God ran

Going through the motions
A story foretold
Living in the unfolding
So much is made known
Yet the unseen is ever present

Dreams has kept me
Passion drives me
Desires make me

Your hand holds me
Your love motivates me
Your joy strengthens me

Going through the motions
Learning to trust all over again

facebook....

welp after a FEW emails of invites to facebook...i have succumb to it =p

plus the fact that in UK facebook apparently is quite popular and friendster is practically an unknown thing ...

everybody seems to have a facebook account ...so i might as well just join in and get my blog promoted at the same time ^^

today i managed to get myself a black collar 3/4 long sleeve shirt and a black doll shoes... -_- took me like 2hours plus to get these two items....that's the problem with shopping for something specific...makes it soo not fun when you want something but there are constrains to it..

reason for getting it? WORK
they wanted everything black...so I had to get a pair of black shoes..got the doll shoes cause it was the cheapest XD only £4 ..I actually wanted a pair of Reiker shoes...cost about £39.90 but cant get a fitting size...
I need a good pair of shoes after all :) too much walking over here & rain

oh well...thn now i can buy another pair of leather shoes ^^ since I didnt get that pair of Reiker haha but not anytime soon though...pretty much sick of shopping...I don't fancy looking for things...exhausting & boring...shall just casually browse and if I find anything that suits & a good buy than I'll buy it...since I'll be needing another pair of sports shoes soon..my Fila is worn out...darn thing the Fila over here is LIMITED to the max...nothing nice to pick from...come to think of it...not much choice of nice sports shoes...they have a lot of those standard white based shoes with designs on it and stuff...ones which you can get from China Town in Kuala Lumpur for only RM50 or RM60 (less than £10) XD not much diff in quality ^^

that's why i wanna get those leather type of shoes...they have loads of good design for those over here =D

next post..my mind is on something else

Home Improvement

Anyone still remembers the show Home Improvement? Starring Tim Allen & his pal Al (don't know his real name =p
Man I used to love that show!!!! It's not showing anymore now but I would always catch the show at the appointed time...can't remember why though...haha now thinking about it I wonder why I liked it.. XD

Welp today, I shall introduce to you a website which features Home improvements
it's called Anglian...funny name though XD but nonetheless it's quite established and they offer pretty good stuff along with it =)

from windows to conservatories and driveways to kitchens ^^

need an expert or someone to just give some input on what to do with the house to make it YOUR house than this is a good place to check it out =D

top it off they have a free phone in which you can call in for further details. I always like the idea of free phone. Why? It simply shows that you value your customers, more often than not when you a make a call, you'll always have to wait. Plus now you (the customer) have already shown interest in their product, the least they could do is to offer a free phone ^^

mmm browsing through the site, they have lots of different type of driveways to suite the different taste of the people. Can't wait till I have my own house ^^

even if you don't intend to buy anything...just browse through to gain some ideas of what you can do with your home next time :)

Island of Cumbrae - part 2

in the trailer having a scottish-warming time ^^

actually showing you the trailer instead of khai yong. A very nice cozy place

stoners

the whole bunch of us in this small trailer
the 2 scottish lady who has such a dear heart for us all =D
can't seem to rotate the pic here...so just tilt your head instead

pushing the bike up the hill ain't an easy job PLUS it was raining

tht is how steep the hill is

exhausting, need a break who cares if it's raining anymore..

showing off

just like the fern-leaf advertisement (ages ago!) in Malaysia

duckies
oook story time! ^^
first off, photobucket multiple uploader ain't working for me..so I'd have to manually upload the pics one by one..which is tedious ...click on one of those pics of enlargement and than you can go to my photobucket to see other pics ^^

Island of Cumbrae is a small town..you can just hire a bicycle and circle it within an hour or so. There's also a hill which gives a pretty good view of the whole island (that is what I heard, I was at the top but it was pouring...read on)

started off as nice windy day..but was warned that it might just rain. Not a problem though over here in Scotland, rain is not like Malaysia, where it literally pours. Most of the time its just light showers =) which is nice ^^

but than as we were cycling up, the showers turned into rain...so yea as you can see in the post below...i was pretty much soaked in the shoes..thank GOD my jacket was water proof so my body wasn't too wet...but my hands were freezing!!

managed to get ourselves to the top...than i was beside a car with 2 ladies inside..they were reversing, so I just smiled at them. The lady wind down her window and ask, would you like me to give you a lift? I said no, cause there were 4 of us together and her car wouldn't fit all of us in. I can't possibly abandon my mates there =p

than she said come on in first and warm up, get your mates in also..i was like ok than cause I was freezing! So I popped in asked my mates to cram in as well. Than she said, why not I bring you all over to my trailer and than I'll come back with one of you to pick up those bikes?
I was like cool! Since there's few of us...it should be alright. She can't possibly kidnap us or something. haha seriously i was also thinking about our safety ^^

so drove us to her trailer, dropped my mates off and I went back to collect the bikes. She was sooooo nice btw her name is Gwen (the other lady...just slipped my mind now...mm hungry..need some food) ook..you know those bikes were wet & dirty but Gwen didn't mind at all...talk about KINDNESS

tell me how many of us would do that?...willing pick up some strangers and let them dirty your car???? even I might not do that!! Me being honest here ;)

long story short: she ended up taking up all my mates into her trailer...got food for us, towels to dry ourselves, socks too!! and cloths!!!

this literally demonstrates that there is GOOD people around!! Newspapers should publish more of stories like these...instead of bad news all the time -_-

How can I ever deny that God's hand is upon my life? that through me my mates are all blessed. God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Even though circumstances might tell me otherwise but I choose to believe and will hold on to the promises given to me! After all through my 22 years of experience He has never fail me =D

I hope to hear from her again that I too may return a kind favor.

I've open up my eyes a bit more through this experience and may I too be as kind as these 2 ladies when the need is before me

Island of Cumbrae

our trip begins..this trip was about 3months ago?..haha yea yea..I know..it took me that long simply because...it just did =p

took a train there..about 45mins away =)journeying..
cameras are simply amazing ain't it?..the ability to capture the moment of life..a snap shot..BUT it's just A MOMENT it sometimes doesn't really mean that much...unless it's a good thing ^^ but if it's bad than don't bother too much about it...photos can be manipulative if fallen in the wrong hands ;)
rocks

a memorial to those who fought for their country
'For your tomorrow, we gave our today' ironic as I just read this phrase earlier on: 'Everything in your future is created by your present' - Robb Thompson.
Sometimes we do not put much thoughts into things and as a result of that, we tend to take things for granted...we never really gave thought of what and how much a person might have gone through to bring something into fulfillment.
Thus it's so important to always be appreciative..now I understand this much more, as I learn and grow. Somebody might have just bought you a box of chocolates, although not much but that person might have taken a lot to get you that box of chocolates.
Somebody might have done something seemingly easy for you but yet it may have taken a lot out of that person to do that for you...you would never know
I am becoming more aware of things now as I gain my understanding of this thing called LIFE
I am learning =)

after not riding a bike for like ages! I took a BIG step in volunteering myself to get a tandem XD thts cause my partner, Pei Yuan doesn't know how to ride a bike..so I helped her out =)
the other guy: Khai Yong -> vain pot =p
the 15mins or so ferry ride to the island

these are the scottish dudes who performed (must watch) in the ferry. what a treat!
that's the bike shop which we rented from..loads of bike shops around to rent a bike

small lil town

there were ppl sailing in the freezing icy cold waters

I actually have got quite a few more pics...but apparently photobucket is not showing it -_-
it really is annoying when they don't put down their terms clearly..hmph

will need to tell the story later thn..

flickr -_-

Monday, September 10, 2007

well...I only found out today that...the quota for a FREE account on Flickr is 200pictures

so after the 200th pic, the pictures you upload won't be able to be viewed by anyone else...unless you delete some away...as long as you stay within the 200 quota you are fine..but what's the point??

eish...so for ppl like me, who's looking for FREE usage and donation to the site when we get rich..flickr is not the choice!

mmm...now anyone has any good recommendations??...gonna try a few more...wonder if picasa is good...

University of Strathcylde

Sunday, September 9, 2007

So there it is, my university till I graduate! =D
Can't wait till the day comes!!! haha...and I got 2 more semesters to go ^^

So much lies await ^^

Well I do think that Malaysian's Universities are up to par but let me rephrase that, Malaysian PRIVATE universities are up to par ;)
It's a pity state, of what has become the public universities of Malaysia. Once it was well known to have top notch education, to serve as a learning institution for all. But now it is only a place for a certain group of people and it is also this group of people that have brought the downfall of the reputation of the public universities.

I know no country is perfect but Malaysia have a lot of growing up to do...after all it is still a developing country. One day I will return to turn it around if I may.
We have so many talented people in Malaysia, so much skills but most if not all have went abroad to seek a better life and I think they should. For our country has not given to this people what they deserve, no honor, no respect.

But it's a good thing as well for Malaysia has made us a better person, a tougher people group..we are more resilient, stronger, smarter. But it is high time that we unite together to do something in return for our country...time to get off our butts and meddle into things. It is our country after all, our rights more so our RESPONSIBILITY.

It's a good Uni at UoS but much can be improved and worked on.
The halls are really good, student accommodation is highly recommended. At least for the one that I'm staying in ^^
They offer pretty good service and quite efficient ;)

my place

this is my halls of residence =)
known as JBC (james blyth court)

the student accommodation is highly recommended indeed! Since its much cheaper than outside or at least I think so but definitely less hassle as you don't have to worry about water bills and electricity bills! Which can be quite expensive since the heaters are very likely electrical =) Plus sometimes in the summer you would still need your heaters to be on, so that simply shows how much electricity that you need to use.
Below would be the view outside my room window ^^ nice huh?
check out the bird flying in the sky

night view...simply peaceful (most of the time)

there's some smoke there, it comes from the brewery & if you look closely (click the picture to enlarge) you can see the smoke coming up from a chimney. So sometimes you can smell the brewery smell when the wind blows in my direction, which is horrible...smells like those...mmm herbal nasty stuff..too much of it makes me sick -_-

Ashop Commerce

well with all the e-commerce going on around, you'll definitely need softwares to help you manage your stuff ;)

so i've decided to write something about it, since it's the only one available for me now to write XD

One of the essential softwares you'll definitely need would be -> shopping cart software!
How would anyone go shopping without a shopping cart?? You can but than that would not be ideal for the accounts and the graphs and things like that ^^

It just hit me while typing this out!!! Shopping carts are like one of the most ingenious ideas the business community ever came up with. Let's start with the good side first for the consumers, it makes our lives easier. We don't have to carry all those goods around while shopping =D
Than comes the good side for the money makers, people tend to buy more when they have a shopping cart with them!! Don't believe me? Try it for yourself...when you're pushing the cart, you can just grab things off the shelves and throw it in BUT when you're only holding it in your hands, you tend to buy less. For OBVIOUS reasons, you don't have so many hands to hold the stuff ^^

I know I know...all those who study business and those knots have known it a long time..but hey I don't study business..of all places I'm in pharmacy =p

Anyway with Ashop Shopping Cart, you get to test it out for 10 days FREE. So you can give it a try and if you don't like it than you can just try others =) I'd suppose it really depends on your needs and do a bit of read up here and there. They've also won this award by Fuji Xeror last year.

So if you're earning money online, should definitely check this software out to generate more $$

Remember though there are bigger things than just earning $ for yourselves =)

The Helium Balloon

Saturday, September 8, 2007

reaching for the stars

Saturday, September 1, 2007

Journeying day by day
As seconds turns into years
Striving...living

To wait for eternity
Til the day

Reaching for the stars
When will I sing my song
Walking...walking

People see right through the glass
Maybe it's true
Others always could see better
The assurance in their voice

Have they too been through this road
Have they reached
Will I ever know

Stringing words together
Forming sentences together

The day will come when I will know
To reach for the stars
All my life
Every breathe
Every moment

To stand before
To hear those words
To have reached

I journey not into this path, the wide and common road
Maybe the unforgotten path, lies some where in the woods
Covered with leaves, passing through autumn
Footprints of the great once trodden
Will I too?

a whole saturday to myself!!

now i'm stuffed to the brim!!!!!!!

wish mummy was here ...so that I can tell her that I'm hungry and I need food =D

i had my lunch cum dinner: a bowl of pasta + lettuce + carrots + raisins + 1 sausage + 1 burger slice + apricots with mayo & herbs = YUMMY

*LESSON 1: *
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her
shower, when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a
towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob,
the next-door neighbour.
Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you £800 to drop that towel, "
After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked
in front of Bob After a few seconds, Bob hands her £800 and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she
gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?"

"It was Bob the next door neighbour," she replies.

"Great," the husband says, "did he say anything about the £800 he owes me?"

MORAL OF THE STORY:** *
If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with
your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable
exposure..
*
LESSON 2:** *
A priest offered a Nun a lift. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing
her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After
controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg.

The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest removed his hand.
But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again.

The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?"

The priest apologized "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak."

Arriving at the convent, the nun sighed heavily and went on her way.
On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129 It
said, "Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."

MORAL OF THE STORY: *
If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great
opportunity.
*
LESSON 3: *
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to
lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes
out.
The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish."

"Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas
, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Puff! She's gone.

"Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii ,
relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of
Pina Coladas and the love of my life." Puff! He's gone.

"OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager.

The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch." *

MORAL OF THE STORY: *
Always let your boss have the first say.
*LESSON 4 *
An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit
saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?"

The eagle answered: "Sure , why not."

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a
sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it. *
**
MORAL OF THE STORY: *
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.
*
LESSON 5** *
A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to
the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy."

"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull.
They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him
enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day,
after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after
a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree.

He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.
*
MORAL OF THE STORY: *
Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.
*
LESSON 6 *
A little bird was flying south for the Winter. It was so cold the bird
froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying
there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him.

As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to
realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay
there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.

A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following
the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and
promptly dug him out and ate him.

MORALS OF THE STORY: *
(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.

(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.

(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

The Old Fisherman

THE OLD FISHERMAN

Our house was directly across the street from the clinic entrance of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. We lived downstairs and rented the upstairs rooms to out-patients at the Clinic.

One summer evening as I was fixing supper, there was a knock at the door I opened it to see a truly awful looking man. "Why, he's hardly taller than my eight-year-old," I thought as I stared at the stooped, shriveled body.

But the appalling thing was his face, lopsided from swelling, red and raw. Yet his voice was pleasant as he said, "Good evening. I've come to see if you've a room for just one night. I came for a treatment this morning from the eastern shore, and there's no bus 'till morning."

He told me he'd been hunting for a room since noon but with no success; no one seemed to have a room. "I guess it's my face. I know it looks terrible, but my doctor says with a few more treatments..."

For a moment I hesitated, but his next words convinced me: "I could sleep in this rocking chair on the porch. My bus leaves early in the morning." I told him we would find him a bed, but to rest on the porch. I went inside and finished getting supper. When we were ready, I asked the old man if he would join us. "No thank you. I have plenty" And he held up a brown paper bag.

When I had finished the dishes, I went out on the porch to talk with him a few minutes. It didn't take a long time to see that this old man had an oversized heart crowded into that tiny body. He told me he fished for a living to support his daughter, her five children and her husband, who was hopelessly crippled from a back injury.

He didn't tell it by way of complaint; in fact, every other sentence was prefaced with thanks to God for a blessing. He was grateful that no pain accompanied his disease, which was apparently a form of skin cancer. He thanked God for giving him the strength to keep going.

At bedtime, we put a camp cot in the children's room for him. When I got up in the morning, the bed linens were neatly folded, and the little man was out on the porch.

He refused breakfast, but just before he left for his bus, haltingly, as if asking a great favor, he said,

"Could I please come back and stay the next time I have a treatment? I won't put you out a bit. I can sleep fine in a chair." He paused a moment and then added, "Your children made me feel at home. Grownups are bothered by my face, but children don't seem to mind." I told him he was welcome to come again.

And on his next trip he arrived a little after seven in the morning. As a gift, he brought a big fish and a quart of the largest oysters I had ever seen. He said he had shucked them that morning before he left so that they'd be nice and fresh. I knew his bus left at 4 a.m., and I wondered what time he had to get up in order to do this for us.

In the years he came to stay overnight with us there was never a time that he did not bring us fish or oysters or vegetables from his garden.

Other times we received packages in the mail, always by special delivery; fish and oysters packed in a box of fresh young spinach or kale, every leaf carefully washed. Knowing that he must walk three miles to mail these and knowing how little money he had made the gifts doubly precious.

When I received these little remembrances, I often thought of a comment our next-door neighbor made after he left that first morning. "Did you keep that awful looking man last night? I turned him away! You can lose roomers by putting up such people!"

Maybe we did lose roomers once or twice But, oh! If only they could have known him, perhaps their illness would have been easier to bear. I know our family always will be grateful to have known him; from him we learned what it was to accept the bad without complaint and the good with gratitude to God.

Recently I was visiting a friend who has a greenhouse. As she showed me her flowers, we came to the most beautiful one of all, a golden chrysanthemum, bursting with blooms. But to my great surprise, it was growing in an old dented, rusty bucket. I thought to myself, "If this were my plant, I'd put it in the loveliest container I had!"

My friend changed my mind. "I ran short of pots," she explained, "and knowing how beautiful this one would be, I thought it wouldn't mind starting out in this old pail. It's just for a little while, till I can put it out in the garden."

She must have wondered why I laughed so delightedly, but I was imagining just such a scene in heaven. There's an especially beautiful one," God might have said when he came to the soul of the sweet old fisherman. "He won't mind starting in this small body."

All this happened long ago -- and now, in God's garden, how tall this lovely soul must stand.

The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Friends are very special. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear and they share a word of praise. Show your friends how much you care.

Pass this on, and brighten someone's day.

Nothing will happen if you do not decide to pass it along.

The only thing that will happen if you do pass it on is that someone might smile
~ because of you!

how remarkable it is to have a new perspective of things..sometimes it changes your life =)
