P105: CNY Class Party

Friday, January 25, 2008

Hello P105!!!!

Must have been ages since I last saw some of you =D
Labs must have gone well for some and not so well for some too..hehe..so as CNY approaches it's time to relax and chill for a wee while before we all go back to our hectic schedules~

Some of you might have received an email from Jin Werne indicating a halls CNY party but now plans have changed a bit and the final outcome of it would be a P105 CNY class party ^^

Date: 7th Feb
Time: 7:30pm - 10:30pm
Venue: Living rooms of H12, H11, H10, H9 (yet to confirm), H8, H7 (and their adjoining units the J houses)
Price: IT'S FREEEEEEEE thks to our ever brilliant P105 people = us, we got enough money to have this CNY party for free ^^ (your cooking stuff can be claimed, retain receipts please)
*I'm gonna send out an invitation to the lecturers as well, so if you particularly like one of them..do go all out and invite them in ;)

How is it gonna be like??
Bringing the CNY-visitation-open-house-feel to Glasgow!!! So basically you can proceed from the allocated houses to the other. It's gonna be FUN!! You need to move around in order to sample all the good food prepared by your very own batchmates!!

Now we need everyone to do something, to justify you having free food --> it's either you are cooking or cleaning up at the end or doing deco
We obviously need a big lot of you cooking =) if not there would not be much food =( than it won't be a good class party anymore

So we need 3 teams of people basically:-
- Chefs --------> person in charge: Joyce Ng (ext 7211; email: syjoyceng@yahoo.com)
- Cleaners ----> person in charge: Adam Cham (ext 7182; email: adamcham85@hotmail.com)
- Deco --------> person to contact: Yi Jie (ext 7199; email: e_jay@graffiti.net)

You would need to be interested in at least one of the teams to be allowed for this event =p
Cleaners: 12 people (by 31st of Jan)
Deco: 12 people (by 31st of Jan)

As for the CHEFS, please let Joyce (by 31st of Jan) know what you wanna cook and what are the ingredients you need because we will be buying in bulk to make it cheaper =) unless you plan to sponsor the food which of course is more than welcome ^^

So if you are interested, than your name would need to be in at least in either one of the teams la :) Do feel free to invite the home students, ask those especially who's in the same research group as you are in and if they are coming do let Joyce know. So we know how many people are coming.

Ok la..I think I didn't miss out anything ^^ I need sleep!

YOU MUST BE INVOLVED IN EITHER ONE OF THE GROUPS IN ORDER TO EAT =P
apparently some of you got the idea that you can just come and makan...don't la so lazy...it's our last P105 event after all...(mm maybe ^^)

back in Glasgow~

Thursday, January 24, 2008

i've been gone for about 10days..plus minus...but it seems like i've been away for a very long time and it feels like it too but yet so short...

i had a superb fantastically great holiday with my parents ^^ visiting all in 5 different countries~ visiting a country is best when you have a friend there :)

i've got some pictures ...didn't really bother to snap lots of photos this time...as I was just too busy having a ball of a time!!

From Glasgow, we went to Hungary & Romania (this is in the only 2 places that had snow..unfortunately or fortunately my hope of seeing fresh snow did not come to pass..as where ever we went..the sun tagged along -_-)
and from Hungary we went to Vienna by car, our friend drove us there...so we sat comfortably in a BMW 7 series ^^ at a speed of 240 km/h SUPERB!
than from Vienna, Austria we flew to Hamburg, Germany and I love this place the best!! Stayed the longest too =)
After that we flew to London than back to Glasgow

now that I'm back there's just soooo much to do...
but I'll definitely write up something about my trip and post up the photos ...loads of photos coming up pretty soon!~

vienna jet lounge

Tuesday, January 15, 2008

right now...

a red squarish design sofa
sony vaio laptop
on my left arm rest: a cup of Baileys on the rock
with a plus dark maroon carpet under my feet
dad and mum towards my right
dad's watching TV
mum's asleep

since i don't have my mac with me and my camera is running low on batt and that i don't have my card reader with me...no pics for a good wee while =)

with an hour plus more to go for my boarding flight to Hamburg..i am comfortably seated in Vienna's Jet Lounge ^^ (Diner's card rocks) unfortunately I don't have it yet thus Dad had to pay 15euros for me to enter ;)

so far I have been to Hungary and Romania (ate a whole lot of food --> now I literally look fat and rounded! -_- it was like breakfast, lunch, dinner: meat meat meat meat meat AND bread bread bread AND lots lots lots of 101 other things) good food nonetheless!! Did some ministry time over there and it's really brilliant to see the people there :)

ahh tired d..shall just type later and now log on to facebook to do my replies ^^

although i'm in vienna now, I didn't do much for sight seeing and all as mum and dad wanted to do shopping..and I got a jacket from here (and also another jacket from Hungary as my yellow puffy one was torn)

my black jacket from Hungary was a ripped-off coz dad was bugging me to buy it =p than my bad for not thoroughly checking it -_- the 2 pockets had holes in them...i only realised that when i was in vienna XD it cost me 40 euros for that jacket

welp..i do need to come back to vienna to really see the sights and all...some of the food are really good around here..especially the breads..there have loads of different toppings for it..i tried austria's famous dessert...God-knows what's it called but it wasn't too nice..basically a kind of chocolate cake...didn't really like it coz it was kinda dry...the other type of chocolate cake was much better as it was moist but this was not what the austrians are proud of

met up with my friend, Sahiba Minhas..which after 4 years of not seeing each other! ...but I'd suppose both of us have not changed much :) in terms other than that I got fatter XD

It is really terrible that I don't speak German..coz that's what everyone here speaks! Hard to get by at times without having someone that speaks German -_-

Good thing I'm gonna be staying at my dad's buddy place...so will be well taken care off and getta go around places in a car! That is like one of the most important thing especially when you can't speak the local language and people don't speak english that much!

construction - employment training

Saturday, January 12, 2008

You find that you need a career advancement or something new in your life or something to further equip you in the area of construction. What do you do?

Simple: you can always sign up for employment training.

And what is this all about??

Basically this site called Construction Skills offers you further development and training in most of the area in regards to construction. And even if you are the best in your field, if there's an area in which you can further develop than why not? Might as well be the best of the best in that area.

From apprenticeship to qualification, ConstructionSkills.org offers it all. So pop on over and have a look, you might just find the key to your next pay rise.

Since we are on the topic of construction, there was this point of time in which I wanted to become an architect but than it takes like 5 years to get just a qualification and a further few more years to really become a professional in it. -_-
I might as well become a doctor, so that want was quickly dropped off the list. Since I realized that I can always design something on paper and leave the technical part to the experts. ^^

casino

Thursday, January 10, 2008

It's winter and sometimes it's just too freaking cold to walk outside...
You are trapped all in the house, you practically don't feel like leaving the warmth of the house...

But you need a game, something that gives you a thrill, an excitement, and you have that extra cash to spare
With no bars or pubs in the house

You can always go to an online casino to have a wee bit of fun =)
As long as you know how much you want to spend and stick to it

The online casino have loads to offer you, from your ol'favorite jackpot to the new and modern games
All at the click of your fingers
Staying in the comfort of your home and the warmth
You don't need to let this winter get you all down and gloomy
Go ahead and explore the games that they have to offer!

Life is all about risk but a calculated risk is also wise in every aspects of it

rugby rugby

there's this game that i've never played before in my entire life up till now ------> rugby

why?

beats me, the game sounds like some clobbering type of game where you pass the ball to someone and you get to bash up that someone ^^

anyway the rugby game has some good fans along with it...why men get all hyped for a ball? I have no idea..maybe all man are designed to be hyped up by balls ;)

welp if you are interested in rugby and desperately needs to follow up on the rugby tournaments by all means do visit the RBS 6 nation website and there you'll get a good thorough information on the games..and everything about the tournament =)
so if you need to impress someone with rugby, this is a definite place to check out

rugby rugby rugby!~

gooooo rugby!

XD talk about embarrassments!!
courtesy of dad ^^

First Date
>
> If you didn't see this on the Tonight show, I hope you're sitting
> down when you read it.
>
> This is probably the funniest date story ever, first date or
> not!!!
>
> Jay Leno went into the audience to find the most embarrassing
> first date that a woman ever had.
>
> The winner described her worst first date experience. There was
> absolutely no question as to why her tale took the prize!
>
> She said it was midwinter...Snowing and quite cold...and the guy
> had taken her skiing in the mountains outside Salt Lake
> City, Utah.
>
> It was a day trip (no overnight). They were strangers, after all,
> and truly had never met before.
>
> The outing was fun but relatively uneventful until they were
> headed home late that afternoon.
>
> They were driving back down the mountain, when she gradually
> began to realize that she should not have had that extra latte.
>
> They were about an hour away from anywhere with a rest room and
> in the middle of nowhere!
>
> Her companion suggested she try to hold it, which she did for a
> while.
>
> Unfortunately, because of the heavy snow and slow going, there
> came a point where she told him that he had better stop and
> let her go beside the road, or it would be the front seat of his car.
>
> They stopped and she quickly crawled out beside the car, yanked
> her pants down and started.
>
> In the deep snow she didn't have good footing, so she let her
> butt rest against the rear fender to steady herself.
>
> Her companion stood on the side of the car watching for traffic
> and indeed was a real gentleman and refrained from peeking.
>
> All she could think about was the relief she felt despite the
> rather embarrassing nature of the situation.
>
> Upon finishing however, she soon became aware of another
> sensation.
>
> As she bent to pull up her pants, the young lady discovered her
> buttocks were firmly glued against the car's fender.
>
> Thoughts of tongues frozen to poles immediately came to mind as
> she attempted to disengage her flesh from the icy metal.
>
> It was quickly apparent that she had a brand new problem due to
> the extreme cold.
>
> Horrified by her plight and yet aware of the humor of the moment,
> she answered her date's concerns about "what is taking so
> long" with a Reply that indeed, she was "freezing her butt off" and in
> need of some
> assistance!
>
> He came around the car as she tried to cover herself with her
> sweater and then, as she looked imploringly into his eyes, he
> burst out laughing.
>
> She too, got the giggles and when they finally managed to compose
> themselves, they assessed her dilemma.
>
> Obviously, as hysterical as the situation was, they also were
> faced with a real problem.
>
> Both agreed it would take something hot to free her chilly cheeks
> from the grip of the icy metal!
>
> Thinking about what had gotten her into the predicament in the
> first place, both quickly realized that there was only one way
> to get her free.
>
> So, as she looked the other way, her first-time date proceeded to
> unzip his pants and pee her butt off the fender.
>
> As the audience screamed in laughter, she took the Tonight Show
> prize hands down. Or perhaps that should be "pants down."
>
> And you thought your first date was embarrassing.
>
> Jay Leno's comment..."This gives a whole new meaning to being
> pissed off."
>
> Oh, and how did the first date turn out? He became her husband
> and was sitting next to her on the Leno show.

Departure tips

After having a wee chat with my buddy, Ivy, who's preparing to fly off to Canada on the 3rd Jan, I've decided to put up the list of things in which I run through with her, so that she doesn't forget anything =)

As I've entitled this post, here are some of the things I think would be useful for anyone who's gonna fly off to somewhere for more than 4 hours ^^
I picked it up while from my flight from Malaysia to Scotland...it's a LONG flight ;)

I actually thought of putting down the whole conversation here, but than I realized that some parts of it is not in English, and that would be not fair for my readers who don't understand the language.

Can I put electronic goods in the check-in luggage?
Yup. Just make sure you wrap it up proper with cloths and bear in mind that the people handling your luggage are just gonna throw your luggage everywhere.

Travel adapter?
Bearing in mind, that countries either follow the UK's or US' electrical system. So having one in hand is always handy.

Laptop?
Do make sure when you pack your laptop, you can easily remove it from the bag. As during the check-ins, you are not required to completely remove the laptop from the bag/case. (Due to this procedure, I lost my USB hub -_- as I did not expect to remove the laptop from my bag 3 times. They require that for each transit.)

Food, water?
Do pack some sweets, sandwich (if you're gonna be traveling for long, do not assume that you can buy it from where ever you are going. Sometimes you might not get what you want, plus if you are on a budget, airport food is always expensive.)
If you're gonna travel for long hours, during your last transit, pack some food from the plane into your bag ^^
As you now know, you can't bring liquids into the plane, so just grab a bottle of water from the plane on your last transit to your destination. *grab it early before it runs out

nothing much on other sites, you can just drop me a comment if you've got a question ^^
